It is no secret that Donald Trump is a fast-food lover and regular patron of restaurants like Kentucky Fried Chicken and Mcdonald’s. In the last 8 years, the Obama administration has worked diligently to create a healthier America. However, all of their hard work runs the risk of being ruined by the inauguration of new president, Donald Trump. Why?
The reality is that Trump is blatantly unconcerned with the issues with respect to health, food policy, and exercise.
Here is the proof:
Public explanations regarding Trump’s position on food policies have been scarce to none.
There has been no formal news or releases on any of his websites. It’s actually quite controversial. On September 15, 2016, the Trump administration released a fact sheet detailing their plans for the FDA (which were dismal) which was later removed and reuploaded with absolutely no mention of the FDA anymore. It seems like they may not know what they’re doing?
Trump himself is unprepared to answer questions on these topics over health and nutrition.
In an interview with Dr. OZ, Donald Trump was posed with the following question: Hi. Mr. Trump, I am a teacher and I see obesity every day. How would you go about handling the obesity problem in the country—especially among children—and the fact that many schools are not providing enough exercise in recess time?
Before his reply, he was reported to have a look of surprise and confusion, which his reply soon revealed. He answered “That is a school thing to a certain extent. I guess you could say it’s a hereditary thing, too. I would imagine it certainly is a hereditary thing. But a lot of schools aren’t providing proper food because they have budget problems, and they’re buying cheaper food and not as good of food. And the big thing—when I went to school I always loved sports, and I would always—I loved to eat and I loved sports, and it worked because I could do both. A lot of schools today, they don’t have sports programs, and that is a big problem. I would try and open that up. I’m a big believer in the whole world of sports. I would try and open that up.”
His answer was clearly unrehearsed and void of any actual stance or plan. And this is concerning an issue, as monumental as the health of America’s children. Needless to say, we should be monumentally perturbed by our new president’s lack of knowledge and indifference toward the health of America.
Trump has been promoting unhealthy habits on social media, such as eating unhealthy foods.
Trump posted several Instagram pictures, specifically one on May 26, 2016, that showed him eating a nutritious meal of a Big Mac with a side of fries and a Coke. Do you want your president advertising the leading cause of obesity and health problems?
